We’re launching a new guided tour of Gravesend Borough Market this month – and its free.
The Gravesham Accredited Tour Guides are running the tours, taking in the market’s history, its restoration and Queen Victoria. The tour will take in some of Gravesend’s other well-known landmarks such as the Town Pier and St George’s Church.
The tours will take place on Saturdays at 11am on 26 May, 23 June, 28 July, 25 August, 22 September and 27 October. Each tour runs for one hour.
Cllr Harold Craske, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Youth, said: “Our accredited tour guides, all local people, offer brilliant walks and talks, and this addition about our market is a fantastic new tour.”
This set of tours, running until October 2018, are free taster tours funded through the GO Trade Interreg European Project.
About Gravesham Accredited Tour Guides
Gravesham Borough Council organised for local people to be officially trained to deliver a series of discovery tours in Gravesend on behalf of the council.
The budding tour guides went through a three months training course and successfully passed their written and oral exam in December. A badging ceremony took place in February to celebrate their achievements. The Gravesham Tourism Guides are now fully accredited to take British and International groups on a journey through time.
