From Tuesday 5 September husband and wife duo Barrie and Denise Page will be serving up a variety of winter warmers at Gravesend Borough Market.
Kent-based firm Stewtopia will be selling a range of stews including a classic British one, something a little more exotic, something spicy and something vegetarian.
The pair, both from Maidstone, are looking forward to joining the market saying: “We’re excited to be joining Gravesend Borough Market and can’t wait to share our passion for great food and local ingredients with the people of Gravesend. The UK street food scene is an exciting, vibrant and imaginative industry so we hope the local community will visit us to try our food and find out why!”
Stewtopia uses contemporary and innovative cooking methods to create a delicious and diverse menu which will change according to the available ingredients at the time.
Barrie and Denise pride themselves in their recycling credentials too. They added: “We serve all of our meals in compostable packaging and even the cutlery is compostable, so everything can go in a food waste bin when you’ve finished.
“All our food is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises daily using high quality ingredients. We believe that wholesome tasty food can also be as convenient and affordable as a typical high street fast food chain, and that is what Stewtopia aims to deliver – ‘Good food fast, not fast food’.
Examples of some of the food available will include a classic beef stew, spicy vegetarian stew, pressure cooker Mac ‘n Cheese, pulled pork chilli, spicy beef and tomato stew and a one Pot Brunch (served 9am – 11am).
Stewtopia also offers a large or smaller portion for each dish, which are all priced £5 and £4 respectively.
Market Manager, Jackie Bowles, added: “This will be a great addition to the market and we can’t wait for them to come in and offer something which we haven’t yet got on offer. On a cold day these stews will be the perfect antidote for keeping warm.”
